With the continuous effort and input of the Scientific Committee and Organizing Committee, the
programme and detailed arrangement for the 3rd Regional Symposium and related activities have been
finalized. We are looking forward to an exciting symposium in the beautiful city of Singapore in
December 2012. Mrs. Patricia Chu, Chairperson of CIFA and Co-Chairperson of the Organising Committee,
would like to extend an invitation to you as below.

A team of 4 led by Mrs. Patricia Chu, chairperson of
CIFA, together with Ms. Agnes Ng, Mrs. Miranda
Chung and Mr. Ivan Tam of the CIFA Council and
various committees paid a visit to the Soochow
University and the Suzhou Mental Health Association.
Thanks to the efforts of Dr. Tao Xinhua in arranging the
visit, the team had the opportunity to meet the Vice-
President Dr. Jiang Yong (江涌博士), Dr. Xu Qingyu (許
慶豫博士) head of the School of Education and other
members of the Soochow University, a 112 year old
university with beautiful campus and remarkable
achievements.

The Working Group on 3A Project 2012 has been working hard to make arrangements for the 2nd round
Adjudication scheduled on 16th and 17th August, 2012. In order to provide support to the shortlisted
teams, members of the Working Group have been assigned to serve as Resource Persons for each team
entering the 2nd round.
Guidelines regarding the 2nd round submission and the Interview Session on 16th and 17th August had
been forwarded to the 16 shortlisted teams and are also available in the CIFA WEP for reference.

The Academy of Family Therapy was launched on 2nd May, 2012 with Mr Paul Tang, Permanent
Secretary for Labour & Welfare being the officiating guest. The event was attended by over 400
professionals and representatives from various disciplines and advisory committees. Apart from the
launching ceremony, the AFT’s website was introduced.

The CIFA AGM 2012 was held on 27th April, 2012 at Tsan Yuk Hospital where the report by the
chairperson, financial statement and Auditor’s Report were received and endorsed. Mrs. Patricia Chu,
Chairperson and Ms. Agnes Ng, the Honorary Secretary took the opportunity to brief members of
upcoming events and the development of CIFA in 2012/2013, especially the plan regarding the
celebration of the 5th Anniversary of CIFA in 2013. Members also enjoyed the Nocturne for the Left
Hand Alone by Scriabin played by Dr. Julie Bees, CIFA’s new strategic partner. The AGM was followed by
a dinner when members enjoyed delicious food and company.
